Steinhafels Furniture Superstore is Coming to Crystal Lake
Crystal Lake welcomes its newest retailer! A furniture superstore, Steinhafels, will soon be opening in Crystal Lake, Illinois. Steinhafels is a fourth generation, family-owned business and is Wisconsin’s #1 furniture retailer. Since their opening in 1934, Steinhafels Furniture has been providing quality home furnishings, and home décor choices for a wide variety of tastes and budgets. They serve Wisconsin and northern Illinois with a total of 17 stores; Crystal Lake to be their 18th store. Crystal Lake is excited to welcome this growing family business with their second Illinois location. Steinhafels and the shopping center owner, IRC Retail Centers, are making substantial investments to refresh and rebuild the space at 5846 Northwest Highway. "We’re excited for Steinhafels to join the Crystal Lake business community," said Crystal Lake Mayor Aaron Shepley. The 99,089 sq ft furniture superstore, between Best Buy and Ross Dress for Less will offer an extensive selection of home décor and furniture including seasonal furniture and a clearance center. The company anticipates a fall 2018 opening and will add 50 new jobs to the community.

Pilates Body by Kirsten relocates to Downtown Williams Street
Congratulations to Pilates Body by Kirsten, which has relocated to 39 N. Williams Street in Downtown Crystal Lake. The new 3,700 square foot location includes two smaller studios and one large studio for group classes, including hot yoga, mat Pilates, stretching and other classes. Pilates Body by Kirsten is also a newly-certified Aveda Spa, offering massages, Aveda products and an aesthetician on staff.

Heartland Cabinet Supply has relocated to an expanded faci6119 Northwest Highway in Crystal Lake. Local family owned, Heartland works with custom design professionals on unique residential and commercial installations. We are very pleased to see this new addition to our Route 14 retail corridor!
Breaking Bread Opens New Location in Crystal Lake
We are happy to welcome Teri and Chris Plazak's Breaking Bread Catering and Deli to Crystal Lake. It's located in the Country Corners Shopping Center, 230 West Virginia Street (Route 14). Breaking Bread Catering and Deli serves specialty sandwiches, burgers and hot dogs along with vegetarian choices and gluten free options for most sandwiches.
Mum Floral and Design is Returning to Downtown Crystal Lake
Welcome back, Mum Floral & Design, to Crystal Lake’s Historic Downtown! 37 N. Williams, located next to A Taste of Benedict’s & More, is filled with a women’s clothing boutique, home accessory and floral shop. Mum Floral & Design is returning to the community and moving the business from downtown Barrington. Owner Lynn Lourie previously had a store in Crystal Lake across the street from the new location. Ms. Lourie stated "I am excited to be coming back to Crystal Lake. Crystal Lake's downtown is only getting better and I'm looking forward to being a part of the business community again. There's an amazing mix of businesses, great events and the customers keep coming back for more quality service and selection." The new store will also feature floral designs from Twisted Stem, a local floral design shop located on Route 176. The collaboration between the two businesses will make for a fun shopping experience and add to the already vibrant downtown business community.
CULINARY STORE JOINING CRYSTAL LAKE MARKET
A culinary and specialty knife store, Knife Experience, is joining the City of Crystal Lake and is expected to open later this month. Specializing in fine kitchen cutlery, Boy Scout pocket knives, collectable knives, and outdoor tools, Knife Experience, will be located at 230 W. Virginia Street. The space is near Petco in the Country Corners Shopping Center within the City’s strong Route 14 retail market. Owner Richard Roberts will display knives from all over the world in the store. There will be culinary knives from Sweden, Switzerland and the United States, as well as collectable knives from South Africa. Victorinox, one of the top culinary brands will also be available at Knife Experience. This professional kitchen knife brand uses a soft metal, which allows for easy and quick sharpening – a great option for any home or professional cook. The quality of knives that will be available at Knife Experience will add a new retail opportunity to the Crystal Lake community and offer a regional location for these specialty goods.
Mariano's Construction is Underway for a Planned Spring Opening!
Following demolition of the former Sears store, construction of the new Mariano's is underway! The 74,800-square-foot building will feature Mariano’s signature glass rotunda which houses a café area for customers. The store’s interior will be unique to Crystal Lake, offering a vast assortment of freshly prepared meal options and an extensive award-winning produce department. Watch for the Grand Opening in Spring, 2018! As Mayor Aaron Shepley said, “We are excited to welcome Mariano’s to the Crystal Lake business community. Mariano’s is a premier grocer that offers quality products, variety, exceptional service and convenience and this is a perfect location for them".

Crystal Lake Celebrates 2017 Milestone Business Anniversaries!
In conjunction with the Crystal Lake Economic Development Committee, the Mayor and City Council are pleased to recognize and honor Crystal Lake businesses celebrating milestone anniversaries. Since the Milestone Anniversary recognition program was initiated by the Crystal Lake Economic Development Committee in 2010, many businesses have been formally recognized at City Council meetings and presented commemorative plaques in appreciation of their commitment to their business, their employees and their community.
